What is an Indexed Universal Life (IUL) policy?
An IUL combines life insurance with a cash-value component that can grow based on the performance of a financial index. IULs can offer flexible premium options and potential tax-advantaged growth. Specific policy features (caps, participation rates, fees) vary by insurer and product; we’ll explain those details during your consultation.
Can I adjust my coverage or contributions later?
Most life insurance policies we offer allow flexibility in premium payments and death benefits subject to policy terms and underwriting. Changes may impact cash value and death benefit; we’ll walk you through implications before you make any changes.
Are your agents licensed?
Yes — all Shield & Scepter Capital agents who sell insurance are licensed in the states where they actively transact business. If you’d like to confirm a particular agent’s license, please request their license number and state and we will provide it.
Are you a fiduciary?
We provide guidance and recommendations on insurance and certain financial strategies. For investment advisory services that meet the legal definition of a fiduciary, we partner with licensed registered investment advisors and will disclose the nature of the relationship before providing advisory services.
What if my product arrives with an error or I need to file a claim?
For policy servicing, billing errors, or claims, we will assist you in contacting the issuing insurance carrier and in completing required paperwork. Contact our support team and provide your policy number and a description of the issue.
How long does it take to process refunds or cancellations?
Refunds, cancellations, and policy surrenders are processed according to the issuing carrier’s rules and timelines. Processing times vary; if you request a cancellation or refund, we will provide an estimated timeline specific to your policy.
